Hodge Podge

I have been so busy lately that I haven't had time to post on the blog.  So here is a hodge podge of the fun we have been having.
Roan has been waking up VERY early ... around 5:45....so I have been getting some great alone time with him while I am getting ready in the mornings.  He is at the oohing and aaahhing stage and loves to carry on his own conversation in the mornings.  We talk about all sorts of things and he seems to act like he understands everything I am saying.  I took this picture during a morning conversation when he was such a chatty Kathy and I just LOVE it!

Madeline wants us to take pictures "together" now so here is our best shot at it...an extremely close-up picture.

Roan was happily sporting the new Camo gear that Opa had to get him for Christmas.  I was suprised when I came home on Saturday and found that Joseph had put it on him....he looked so cute in it.  I am sure Opa can't wait to take him out on the farm in it.

Oh the excitement of a fish.  We had promised Madeline that once she tee-teed and poo-pooed on the potty all the time we would get her a fish. We finally reached that Milestone and it was a grand fish day last Saturday.  She had it in her mind that she would be getting Nemo to bring home....but little did she know that Dad had given us a budget of $50 to get a fish and all supplies...so a salt-water aquarium was out of the question.  I kept pushing for Dorthy...Elmo's pet goldfish and telling Madeline that Dorthy was so much more fun that Nemo.  She had somewhat bought into it until we reached the PetCo.....and there was Nemo swimming happily in the tank waiting to be bought....for a "small nominal fee"....Joseph quickly swooped her up and started trying to pick out her "dorthy".

She finally decided on her goldfish and it was time for a tank....that is when we found it....a NEMO TANK!!!  She got to get both! It was time to buy all the equipment, fish, food, water drops, etc and $54 later we were set up for a fish...pretty good to only be $4 over budget!  My fear was we were not going to make it home with the fish alive.....but we did.  Here is Madeline patiently waiting for the fish to get adjusted to the water temperature.  She is sure having fun.

And now her goldfish, that is named Nemo, is swimming joyously around it's new tank....not sure what sex the fish is but to Madeline it is a girl.

Roan is now 4 MONTHS OLD!  Where has the time gone.  I took him for his check-up and here are his stats:
Weight : 18 lbs 10 oz -----ummm that is off the weight % chart
Height: 26 1/2 (95%)
So now you can see why we are in 6-9 months clothes and even 18month PJ's.  We were also given the go ahead to start foods...oh he is going to love it...or so I thought.  It wasn't his favorite at first...rice cereal...but who can blame him...but he enjoyed playing with it none the less.

He has quickly gotten the hang of eating and now LOVES it...the boy can eat him some cereal now!

It was blue day at school for Madeline so I thought I would leave with a picture of her in her blue attire.

I hope you aren't have a blue day....

Mark it on the Calendar

Not any pictures today but we had a BIG day at the Willrich house yesterday.  I was officially given the go ahead from the hubby that I could hire a housekeeper.  I had to circle January 13, 2010 on the calendar because I have been begging for some hired help for about a year now and have just now been able to do it.  She starts Monday...YEAH!
When I asked Joseph what took so long to finally agree with me he said (along with realizing it takes a lot of work with 2 kids to keep up the house like I want it)............
"Kari you need to give me a good sales pitch.  I have to buy into it."  Now I guess I somehow forgot that my house was now a car lot....trying to "sale" my ideas like a car salesman....but it is so true that if Joseph buys into it gets done in a jiffy!  So from now on......I will be choreographing a song and dance when I want something...and see how fast he buys into it or laughs at me.

A New Year

Roan is getting so big and enjoyed his first Christmas....he won't remember a thing he received but is enjoying it none the less.

So the year 2010 will bring great joy to our family because Aaron has FINALLY found the perfect match for him, Keathley, and they are getting married on July 10th. Yep, I said it....he is getting married! I am still shocked he spent the money on a beautiful engagement ring....Aaron is such a penny pincher, so much that he still has his first truck (aka...Black Stallion) that does not have any AC, broken side mirrors, dented frame, tailgate that doesn't work, and brake lights that have now gone out...but according to him....it works JUST FINE, there is no need for a new one. See why I am surprised he spent money on a ring....but he did WONDERFUL job!

Aaron and Keathley - the beard/mustache/whatever you want to call it on Aaron's face is not permanent and will hopefully be gone when I see him next!

On Saturday the 26th, we started the trip around Texas in 7 days by heading to Dallas to see my dad's side of the family. We were on our way with the Expedition LOADED down with all the good toys Santa Willrich was bringing, 2 suitcases, hang-up clothes, boppy, box of diapers, diaper bag, 3-4 other bags with fun stuff in them ,and Madeline's potty. We had to bring the potty in fear that she would scream she needed to poop or tee-tee while we were in the middle of no where. She is in the midst of potty training which was a real treat while we were traveling! I was so paranoid that she would tee-tee in her car-seat that I made her sit on a blue chucks pad that we use in the hospital to put under people who can't control their bladder. Needless to say, she didn't like that much but we had NO ACCIDENTS!
This was a hard Christmas with the Roan family because it was the first Christmas we had without Grandmama and my first trip to Dallas since she has passed away. I was unable to go the funeral due to being a week from my due date. All the pictures are great but it is just odd to look at them without Grandmama in them.

Papa with all the great grandkids - we are so blessed

All the grandkids

Oma and Roan
On Sunday we left and headed to Moran, TX population 33 for Christmas at Oma and Opa's. Madeline had so much fun playing with this Santa mask. We got some great video with her playing Santa at the kitchen table. She was eating her cookies, drinking her milk, feeding her reindeer and brought Opa a new truck....he wishes!

Oma, Opa, Madeline and Roan

It snowed on Tuesday and Madeline has fun in the snow. Opa is teaching her how to make a snow ball.

One of her favorite things to do at Oma's house is to play dress-up...and boy does she dress-up...pulling everything out and putting it on.

Oma and Madeline with their aprons on and making k-bobs. Notice Madeline is still in her PJ's....she didn't feel so great over the break and on this particular day had a little fever.

Roan doing what he does best....sitting and watching everything. He is such a good baby!

Thursday we headed over to Old Oma and Old Opa's house to have a Langerhans Christmas. It was such a nice visit. Roan is a man's man for sure. He was smiling and laughing at Old Opa and lights up when my father talks to him!
Playing a little Peep-pie with Old Oma

More dress-up clothes. Aaron and Keathley are helping her put on all the new stuff.

No explanation needed!

Aaron and Keathley were kind enough to let us join them for a little New Year's Eve fun. We headed to a little swanky lounge in Abilene with them and enjoyed some nice Martini's and good company. Here we are ringing in the new year. I will say that Joseph was forced to sport the cool shades for the picture.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
